Thread: Scraping info from a site and entering it in another

in city there large company uses site raise awareness itself. announce several code words on course of each day , can enter them in on site.there fan-based site shows code-names @ end of each day, , go there around 7pm , enter them in. i've decided side-project become familiar scraping info sites i'm going attempt learn how automate process.

want know how do: scrape codewords 1 site, , enter them site.

have no idea start, have home-server can use. can think of having cron-tab script pull html file down, process using overly complicated c , pull out words, storing them in file. i'd use service acts user browsing site , input information using newly generated text file containing codewords input.

sound correct? pointers appreciated.


edit: don't intend on putting out in wild, i'd have concrete show if ask experiencing in data-mining , parsing content.

i don't know how enter site, know looking @ content of website easier downloading , digging out , storing in file. have experience in python, , know simple in python, have experience in python?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
