Thread: top panel missing (ocelot)

in main account, panel in upper right missing. is, part of panel displays username, , access system settings. missing icons appear in part of panel -- battery indicator, volume, etc.

see in upper panel, on left, following:
file edit view go bookmarks help

has been problem while , i've been working around using account, i'd main account fixed. believe problem began when messing compiz settings manager. must have done bad. there way can restore main account whatever default settings are?

also, computer not shutdown main account. if enter 'sudo shutdown now' in terminal (there no other way shut down panel missing), computer hangs , never finishes shutting down. last thing see on screen "shutting down apache2". that's not exact wording.

ideas?

try in terminal:
unity --reset
