how do I save a specific layer as an audio file

i needed second audio file , created layer , placed video file has audio want in layer.  edited audio in layer , want save result audio file.. preferably mp3 file. how select specific layer , save layer audio file?

i think  photoshop may able save video mp4 file find video splitter program split out audio.  or use , audio program in first place rather using program photoshop can basic video editing.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
