Library Module Tips Box Disappears

i'm new lightroom (lr) version 4.4 user on windows 7 pc.  install went without hitch.  however, wanted explore library module, used help > library module tips, , instructional window appeared.  however, click on other part of lr main window, library module tips window/dialog disappears.  had open tips window/dialog again, after clicking on lr main window, tips windows/dialog disappeared again.

 

assuming tips window/dialog behind lr window, tried resizing lr window , moved tips window/dialog part of screen.  doesn't help, though.

 

what need prevent library module tips disappearing?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
