Macbook Pro not recognising lens correction

its easy fix, old imac 2008 version works fine, recognising of lenses (nikon) in develop module checking 'enable lens profile' box. however, macbook pro retina 17 gives me choice of 8 nikon lenses, none of match of ones i'm using. have choose 1 matches 1 i'm using closest. camera d800. please help, it's driving me round bend. i'm sure it's me being drongo, know i'm not 1 having same problem on newer mac's - friends pro same, , has problems new imac well. how come old machine recognises perfectly, when of setting identical? using lightroom 4.4, way.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
