Thread: Enter key makes gnome crash/logout after bootup

after boot laptop gnome, first time hit enter key causes gnome crash , i'm put @ login screen. programs i'm running killed. after log in again second time, problem doesn't happen again. happens once after boot machine.

*extremely* annoying, , seems such stupid bug... couldn't find answer. don't know if it's gnome... assume if gnome exits , puts me @ login screen must gnome issue. have clue?

i'm running oneiric on macbook pro 8,3 laptop , using gnome shell (the same problem happens when use gnome panels).

absolutely no idea

first thing check log files though.

have in

code:
/var/log/xorg.0.log
and
code:
~/.xsession-errors
they may provide clues happening. post them here if want to. try post part of logs around time of crash.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
