Thread: Proc folder size too big to backup?


am using spideroak backup complete ubuntu system using 100g. on checking /proc folder properties, reports size 1.28tb!. how can when using 9.4g of drive's total capacity of 450g? ideas?

the /proc directory not normal directory. if boot boot cd , @ directory on hard drive see being empty. when @ under normal running system can quite large. doesn't seem using hard disk space. because virtual file system. in other words means of peeking , poking @ guts of linux system through file , directory type interface. when @ file in /proc directory looking directly @ range of memory in linux kernel , seeing can see. in fact many utility programs information /proc directory. knowing can same , more information reading appropriate file in /proc directory.
