learning indesign 4/28/13

hello, having trouble fill , stroke settings set stroke 1pt. , no fill select rectangle tool draw rectangle invisible , stroke , fill changes no fill, no stroke, no matter shape tool or frame draw. after draw can change stroke , fill not stay when draw frame fill , stroke changes no fill no stroke tried deleting preferences same problem occurs. thankful suggestions please. thanks!

are using rectangle tool (without x in it), or rectangle frame tool (with x)? default stroke , fill settings work shape tools (no x). frame tools hard-coded no fill/no stroke   add object style called "place gun frame" document give default stroke , fill frames on placed images. see http://indesignsecrets.com/applying-an-object-style-when-placing-an-image.php  interestingly, don't have use style when placing image in effect, , unfortunately not work frames draw, frames created during place operation.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
