Need CS3 to open PNG files

i have large image portfolio files in png , need edit cs3 not open them. sends error message saying not recognize file. there anywhere can set so? preferences did not seem have anything. have plug-in. on mac os 10. 

where png files created?

are sure files have correct suffices , in fact pngs?

could post one? (i not have photoshop cs3 installed not verify issue, else might.)

 

i on mac os 10.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
