Reinstall makes CS6 blazingly fast... but within a week it grinds to a halt. Why?

i'm on 2.7 i7 retina mbpro 16gb of ram , 256 gb ssd.

i have 1tb of space set aside on usb3 external scratch

 

when uninstall photoshop (and delete preferences) , re-download/re-install, it's wonderfully, beautifully, productively fast while, 1-2 weeks. inevitably slows dramatically. brush lags, switching between tools laggy, zooming maddeningly laggy, navigating around canvas... laggy. start cycle again.

 

is else having problem? have suggestions? in advance any-and-all help.

do load great amounts of brushes, actions, patterns or other presets?

do keep photoshop running weeks on end or restart daily?

what trashing prefs alone without re-installing achieve?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
