Thread: 11.10: GRUB Legacy: old reference makes ubuntu freeze during boot
pew! i'm not sure start on problem...
couple of months deleted windows partition (sda1) due nasty virus (typical fate of win isntallation, isn't it). got myself new hd , installed windows on different physical hd. after lot of got grub detect 2 disks, there still reference sda1 left: every time booted ubuntu there message during ubuntu loading screen "sda1 unavailable or missing" , options "s" skip search or "m" manual recovery.
issue...
have upgraded 10.04 11.10 , when "sda1 missing" message appears , press "s", nothing happens: dots under "ubuntu" screen fills , stops loading. can hit power switch.
due issue new graphics card, cannot access failsafex via recoverymode. command-line via recoverymode root. here's need with:
can please post code removing old reference?
got tip while it's reference in /etc/fstab i'm not terminal... i'm pretty sure bootloader grub legacy , distro of course 11.10
anyone? appreciated...
it fstab has old entry. or drive order changed, may have mounting device(/dev/sda) rather uuid.
post , can give specific suggestions.

v60 has improved formating , requires code tags make legible. new version zip file have extract .sh run.
install these before running script:
sudo apt-get install gawk
sudo apt-get install xz-utils
