Thread: Booting Live CD = no init found error


hi all

laptop had frozen afternoon , had hit power button restart. on restart no init found message.
i.e.

"no init found. try passing init= bootarg

busybox v1.13..........
enter 'help' list of built-in commands"

have searched forums , there solution problem, however, solutions require boot live cd... problem same message when restart live cd in tray. have tried using 2 types of live cd - ubuntu 10.04 (my current os); , recent 11.10. both cd's give same error.

have heard may initiation of deteriorating hard-drive.... please help!

i have tried usb option, i.e. booting form live usb... no luck. please help!
have access grub terminal dot know there (if there do)? can somehow use grub access cdrom/usb, or run terminal?

getting desperate....!

edit:

apparently grub offers no such option....
