Thread: Could not open Synaptic package manager

the ubuntu software center works fine, not open synaptic package manager.
when start synaptic, shows following error:
code:
terminate called after throwing instance of 'std::out_of_range'    what():  vector::_m_range_check

whoa. freaky. well, googled "synaptic terminate called after throwing instance of 'std:ut_of_range' what(): vector::_m_range_check" , came page.

looks might not 1 . . .

synaptic ask give user password? should ask along lines of "please enter password: synaptic lets modify essential parts of system." ask because grants super-user permission synaptic. might crash if didn't have super-user permission.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
