Thread: Gparted makes new drive usable only to Root

hello all,

went make new ext4 partition on external drive today. used gparted , can't put on drive. checked permissions, , seems root has access write on drive.

i'm not sure did wrong. i've used gparted plenty of times in past, , it's never made drive need root permissions.

i'm on 11.10

can log in sudo su root user password? can delete partition? have tried resetting jumper on main board try , remove hard drive locks? don't want give head ache.

did install on partition? can here more information before trying assist problem.
