Thread: How to Connect via Remote Desktop Protocol From Windows Machines

hi all,

have configured ubuntu 10.04 lucid lynx domain , created users. 1 me,

how connect via remote desktop protocol windows machines?

many users should access server @ time...

in advance...

you can use, example, real vnc client purpose. there's executable doesn't require installed.

on ubuntu side have set password , allow logging in. should able login windows machine entering it's ip, leaving username blank.

if wan't able login outside steps little different. because - security reasons - may not idea give outside world access remote desktop server directly.

- should install openssh server.
- setup port forwarding of port 22 ubuntu system

use putty (or other ssh client) connect ubuntu system , forward port used remote desktop porticol (usually 5900). after can login vnc client connecting localhost.

note: noticed wan't connect many different users. default desktop server, however, lets connect running session. start new sessions install vnc server on ubuntu side.
