Thread: how to delete corrupt file on NTFS partition after dd_rescue (10.10)

hello,

have hard drive bad sectors. in windows box, drive has 2 ntfs partitions on it. recovered data new drive using ddrescue ubuntu live flash stick. process seems have gone fine, here summary,
code:
summary /dev/sda -> /dev/sdc:  dd_rescue: (info): ipos: 976762560.0k, opos: 976762560.0k, xferd: 976762560.0k                     errs:     24, errxfer:        12.0k, succxfer: 976762560.0k               +curr.rate:     3064kb/s, avg.rate:    37374kb/s, avg.load: 10.9%
you can see there there errors.

using cp -rfp copy data new drive dd data sent , put on external backup drive. have errors cp far.

cp: cannot access `data/applications/sm2_profiles/yahoo/newstf/cache.trash/trash/cache': input/output error

presume file dd_rescue not of , unreadable. there way in ubuntu can delete corrupt file. before putting drive windows box.

can post entire log dd_rescue if useful.

since making post, have been informed i/o error indicates corrupt file system, not corrupt file. means need repair file system opposed deleting file. since drive 2 ntfs partitions, wondering if can use fsck , if there special arguments let know ntfs partition.

put windows box , let chkdsk run, since in ubuntu, seems make sense try linux tool. have more confidence in linux tools anyway.
