Thread: mount exited with exit code 13

hello!

i've been spending night trying redistribute space on harddrive, has led me reinstall ubuntu.

i'm running windows 7 , ubuntu dualbooting.

right now, when starting windows enters repair state, finishes , reboots.

also, ubuntu giving error.

"error mounting: mount exited exit code 13: corrupted file $upcase
failed mount '/dev/sda4': input/output error
ntfs either inconsistent, or there hardware fault, or it's a
softraid/fakeraid hardware. in first case run chkdsk /f on windows
reboot windows twice. usage of /f parameter very
important! if device softraid/fakeraid first activate
, mount different device under /dev/mapper/ directory, (e.g.
/dev/mapper/nvidia_eahaabcc1). please see 'dmraid' documentation

how should proceed?

i've used search function, resolutions seem "situation"-specific.

gparted tells me checkdisk /f, cannot since can't boot up.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
