this weird have used ubuntu past 6 years , have used same password logging in/sudo.

last week had numerous things open , whilst in working in chrome ubuntu password asked for. not thinking typed in looked ubuntu wanted download updates. ever since cannot log ubuntu? did @ time wonder why being asked did not think it.

accessing ubuntu guest account? fortunately have separate home folder shall reinstall ubuntu , use password.

have been hacked or case of me doing stupid without realising it?

maybe wrong keyboard configuration when log in.

try open terminal ,
code:
su username
where username user name. hope works, i'm not sure though.

should ask enter password.

if works, try if keyboard settings in login screen ok, or if have multiple layouts installed (while use 1 layout).

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
