Thread: Setting up a local server in ubuntu 11.10 with separate packages

im using ubuntu 11.10

have downloaded following components separately....

1. filezilla (ftp client)

2. mysql server

3. phpmyadmin along apache server

want 2 things know...

1. above things enough setting local server?

2. how configure client , servver??

you going have heavy reading set first server.
zentyal machine running in office type environment while learn more detailed operations of server. http://www.zentyal.com/

here howto found comprehensive , invaluable me start learning server requirements. uses webmin allow browser connect , modify server settings.
install desktop plus install , run server virtual machine using virtualbox , how run testing websever.

are using current version of how-to?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
