Illlustrator/Photoshop CS2 registration

i had installed illustrator , photoshop cs2 (education versions, if makes difference) desktop somewhere around 6 years ago. desktop died on me, never had chance uninstall either program. now, when reinstalling on dell laptop (which worked fine) can't register program. after researching know there have been "glitches" , there downloads on adobe site, i'm confused. i've got discs. purchased in store, not downloaded illegally. disc says have 30 days register or illustrator/ photoshop cs2 cannot used.

 

my questions:

 

-should ignore discs entirely (uninstall laptop) , download link on adobe (https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2_downloads) instead?

 

-will internet download of programs expire , cause issues current projects?

 

- how adobe know i've payed products? enter serial number or customer id anywhere?

i believe link can download trials , can activate them using serial number.

when put in serial number activate it, adobe recognize if valid serial key or throw error msg.

 

also, 1 serial key allows install product on 2 machines.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
