New Dell U3014 Review - Some Good Things, Some Disappointing
the review not breaking news, hadn't seen before:
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u3014.htm
the 1 feature had high hopes uniformity calibration. had read several of other recent ultrasharp models sported it, limitations made less usable. unfortunately, limitations seem here in 1 well.
specifically, uniformity calibration reportedly available number of other features disabled - e.g., preset gamut settings or brightness control cannot used in conjunction it! also, hint seen in prior models there user configurability uniformity calibration has been removed.
without uniformity calibration, thing exhibits as 20% brightness drop @ edges.
this not happy news!
i'm going write note expressing disappointment dell not getting feature right in practical sense.
the news otherwise thing performs admirably without feature enabled - it's perfection isn't there. fair thing has capabilities still enviable, such excellent anti-glare coating, full 10 bit color capability, 14 bit hardware calibration lookup table, , super high frequency pulse width modulation control display brightness, should avoid visible flicker.
honestly have been waiting monitor. though tftcentral rates sweeping improvement on predecessor, well-liked u3011, because of seeming unusability of uniformity calibration feature believe wait little longer.
