"Remove selected clips" not as per CS6 PDF

on page 335 of cs6 pdf states:

 

remove effects clip

  1. select clip in timeline panel. make sure 1 clip selected, click empty space in timeline, click clip. click spot in time ruler above selected clip move current-time indicator location.
  2. do 1 of following:

from effect controls panel menu, choose remove effects

    • select clip > remove effects
    • right-click clip in timeline panel, , select remove effects.

 

i followed steps , worked, wanted see happen if playhead not above clip (bit in blue). didn't matter playhead was, effects removed selected clip.

 

in cs6, not moving playhead stated, undesirable happen? or error in pdf?

i think direction of moving playhead selected clip

is benefit of user... able see change

has taken place (the effects have been removed).

 

you correct commands work selected clip

not being displayed in program monitor (by not

moving playhead selected clip).

the possibly undesirable thing not see change

(the removal of effects) occur, , may lose track of you've done.

or error in pdf?

i'm not sure can classify error or not?

the direction seems purpose of allowing learning user

to see happening when commands used.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
