Thread: disabling tapping on touchpad

i have lt27 gateway notebook. not sure touchpad is. when had windows, able disable tapping on touchpad, type without random redirection of cursor due spurious tapping signals touchpad. since got lubuntu week ago, have been unable disable tapping feature, makes typing challenge. i've searched forum solutions, , tried few nothing has worked far. of proposed solutions seem bit complicated unix knowledge. synaptiks utility doesn't seem anything. tried installing , running gpointing-device-settings , disabling scrolling , tapping alps/ps-2 touchpad (is have?) there, no effect after reboot.

advice appreciated.

i tried modifying touchpad-config.json. found in .config/synaptiks directory, maxtaptime=0, got overwritten upon reboot. file respond changes make synaptiks gui, changes don't seem affect touchpad. also, don't think it's related fingers brushing on touchpad. noise keyboard maybe looking touchpad signal.
