Thread: need help setting up web host on home server

first off, im new here im no noob computers means please respectful , treat same. if want background on me google username.

i moving business website own server here @ home.

things have setup far:
ubuntu 11.10
apache2
phpmyadmin
mysql
vsftpd installed(but not sure if setup correctly)
wordpress 3
router forwarding necessary ports
dns setup , site viewable web

problems im having:
cannot ftp work remote computers
links on site link "localhost/"
if type sites address, browser changes ip addy instead of name



have iptables turned off attempt ftp working enable once issues sorted out.

great. in advance

thread moved server platforms.

going ask port forwarding, see you've looked @ that.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
