Thread: To DKMS or not to DKMS?

this bounce thoughts off of persons presumably more knowledgeable myself, rather specific technical inquiry. hope right venue.

have built kernel module. need put on several identical systems.

systems of course receive upgrades kernel on time, kernel module need rebuilt against apropos kernel(s) released.

systems in question need free of cruft possible, , have limited (practically nonexistent) direct internet connectivity. (updates come local apt cache server.)

dkms best option ensuring systems have kernel module need?

dkms require systems have development tools might cruft things up? , tools not require more strain in terms of adding amount , size of updates needed on regular basis?

other options?

have considered creating server build module each kernel released, add debs local repo. however, strikes me potentially more complicated , less supported using dkms. thoughts?
