Thread: Ubuntu fails to boot after upgrade to 11.04

ubuntu fails boot after upgrade 11.04
i upgraded ubuntu 11.04 kernels fail boot. resolution of grub changed , older kernels put 'previous kernels' folder. recent kernel halts @ message '* stopping userspace bootsplash [ ok ]' , previous kernels fail message 'unlink after no-irq. controller using wrong irq',

or show background of login screen white box.

think cause have ati graphics card (hd radeon 3650), because on 2 other computers ubuntu upgrades fine , have nvidea graphics cards.

last resort tried installing different distro's linux mint gived me 'unlink after no-irq' message.

guys know problem might , how can solve it? thanks.

i think problem because:

a) didn't uninstall ati graphics drivers known fglrx (and disable ppa) before upgrade
b) did uninstall them, performed upgrade need boot boot parameter in gui in order install new drivers.
c) upgrade failed (file error during download etc...)

if case uninstall fglrx via command line , reboot using opensource drivers , once in desktop can install new proprietary drivers.
