hello:                                                                                                               level: newbie  os: win 8  ps: cs6  ... new windows 8 - have had 5 days

i activated photoshop on new laptop , set preferences way them , made new document , added new layer

but when clicked new layer icon @ bottom of layers panel area behind canvas turned dark grey transparent , when tried draw rectangle shape entire document became black , when clicked new layer icon again black went away , shape appeared , @ same time area behind canvas rotated through dark grey, black , transparency again ...

to clarify ... @ first area behind canvas went transparent dark grey under other circumstances using paintbrush, drawing shapes etc. area behind canvas first dark grey, black , transparent.

it's annoying trying work this.

i called adobe , spent on hour on phone them. man took call seemed have fixed problems when shut ps down , restarted again same problems returned.

i tried resetting preferences alt + ctrl + shift @ lauch of ps didn't @ all.

the nice man @ adobe did files , when done placed prefs icon on desktop.

has else come across problem? ideas or solutions?

i wondering if maybe ought deactivate , reactivate or out , out uninstall , reinstall.

i'm not particularily computers wouldn't know begin checking if there conflict of commands between ps cs6 , windows 8.

thank time , efforts.

does turning off »use graphics processor« in performance preferences , restarting photoshop have bearing on issue?

is photoshop updated?
