How to change source for timeline clips?

hello, i'm looking way replace timeline clips without having manually re-set in/out points on replacement clips.

 

i need replace timeline clips clips different (identical) source clip -- using same in , out points.

 

another way i'm trying do: given clip in timeline, change reference 1 clip file clip file within bin structure....knowing new source identical clip in respects.

 

i guess work if replace original source clip somehow source clip in project bins, in way maintains in , out points (again, source clips identical , duplicates in bins).

 

i'm new premiere, apologies if answer obvious silverbacks among us.... ;-)

 

+1 brownie points/eternal gratitude if can reveal easy way while said clips offline. i'm doing lot of work project on commute when don't have access media drive. (commuting via bus, -- don't worry i'm not driving , editing!)

select clip replaced in timeline, alt+drag (opt+drag on mac) clip bin clip in timeline.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
