Thread: 24 GB Root directory running lw on Disc space

i allocated 24 gb of space root directory partition(with separate home , swap partitions) , getting low space warning coming up. have ubuntu 10.10 64 bit installed.
can me find out how space being taken , how clear it.

edit: few screen shots 1 showing folder 128 tb of used space. don't understand going on here

ed 2: rebooting cleared kde file , freed 8 gb of space. should root folder using 15 gb of space gparted says. have lots of programs loaded still seems high
attached images attached images

i suggest enter command in terminal

code:
df -h
i don't trust these gui programs.

there useful command helps find largest subfolders, example

code:
du -h /home
