Thread: How do I disable ACPI?

i went /boot/grub/menu.lst file didn't exist found out changed /boot/grub/grub.cfg says not edit file , i'm not sure add line acpi=off or noacpi

acpi causes laptop crash when unplugged, makes internet extremely slow , gpu fails work properly.

ideas great, i've been trying disable while now, can't grub menu display @ boot time, pressing e doesn't bring up, edit etc/default/grub , uncomment grub_gfxmode=640x480 won't display menu.

should this:

linux /boot/vmlinuz-linux-ck root=uuid=9fce12e5-0738-4c6a-885f-c0adc28bf338 ro quiet noacpi

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
