Thread: Kmail2 to Evolution

i sick tired of kmail2 problems. lost believe kmail ever deliver on promises made , make. since have no ability read emails since days, it's time rid of kmail/kontact fast.

prefer pim, thunderbird not alternative.
appears evolution give me functionality expect.

experience or advice evolution under ubuntu 11.10, have quite large amount of data (ca 10 gb)

kmail made me furious today pulled plug , moving evolution.

moving kmail evolution extremely easy , works. problem me suffering missing emails out of kmail mess. not due transfer process or evolution. kmail deserves blame - again.

way go:

step 1: start evolution , create same folder structure in evolution have in kmail

step 2: copy , paste 1 one folder contents in kmail (curr, new , tmp) respective newly opened same folder in evolution , replace empty curr, new, tmp folders. tmp empty. it's easy that.

step 3: close evolution , folders updated

1 big warning: thought had lost thousands of emails during process , have. just: noticed kmail 4.7.3 shows me mails in folder structure, in fact not in respective email account missing emails have vanished. not there. anymore? available emails transferred. of course, see vanished?? emails in folder tree because have lost access see , read emails , bloody "retrieving folder contents..please wait"..

it's obious dam....kmail mess responsible vanished emails. question only, able recover them again somewhere. far no luck.
sure never going touch kmail ever again, program should doomed.
