Thread: mySql to php to html to web browser to html file to OpenOffice Writer fails on styles

i have address book data legacy application in csv format. want able update data , format (font, font-size, bold, italic, indents, no-wrap) multi-column formats can print out on special paper filofaxes.

imported mysql, wrote php output html stylesheet , format looks fine in browsers (firefox , opera) not, of course(?), handle multi-column or page break requirements.

want put output openoffice writer (version 3.2), file correct multi-columns. tried cut , paste browser writer. tried saving web page html file , using writer "insert -> file..." command. in both cases, formatting left out.

appplies both using external stylesheet , putting styles <head> of html. (i can get, e.g., bold work using old fashioned <b>..</b> attributes i'm not sure things styles can done thus.)

there upgrades or extensions or plug-ins solve problem? or workarounds? (i don't want format data hand.)

or alternative ways of getting csv data filofax sheets? (filofax's own software didn't work me.)

(can css styles print media me multi-column requirement , let me print straight browser?)

thanks.

just guess, if you're working tabular data, why try use writer instead of calc?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
