Thread: Ubuntu LiveCD not booting to desktop

i'm trying boot macbookpro (4,1) using livecd install gdisk , solve multi-boot mbr issues.

can't "try ubuntu before installing" livecd takes me black screen on mac, nomodeset seems load drivers it's welcoming me ubuntu 11.10 via command line - won't boot graphical environment , i'm not sure why.

final line displayed welcome ubuntu 11.10 (linux 3.0.0-12-generic x86_64)
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ cursor, , livecd boots gui fine in pc.


specs 4th gen macbookpro, googling shows 2.6ghz core 2 duo 4 gb ddr2 sdram memory , geforce 8600m gt 512mb graphics card.

please me boot desktop livecd!

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
