My Adobe Reader application is "acting up", All of a suddend I can't access any of my PDF files

hi friends! adobe reader application "acting up", of suddend can't access of pdf files, instead following error message: adobe reader not open 'wsj 09-07-2010 insurers pin rate hikes on health law.pdf' because either not supported file type or because file has been damaged (for example, sent email attachment , wasn't correctly decoded).can 1 help?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
