Photoshop opens all files as transparent

i installed cs4 suite. when photoshop comes background layer transparent. happens if open file photoshop. in case, layer icon shows image see on screen checkerboard pattern. proper way new file show background solid (specified) color , opened file actual image being opened.  how correct this?

 

update video card driver gpu maker's website, or turn off gpu drawing in photoshop preferences.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
