Thread: ATI driver kills xserver

hello! having problem that's becoming neusanse. i'm running kubuntu 11.10 , have ati radeon hd 6470 card. downloaded appropiate drivers amd website , installed them using:

code:
cd downloads
code:
sudo sh filename.run
it installs peachy. when reboot laptop however, kde refuses start. in fact stops doing @ when lists functions , passed / started. there single line says fail @ point.

starting system 5 runlevel compatability failed
i need driver working. browsing facebook works, when try view local newspaper whole darn thing goes lagging. 2.10ghz , 4gb ram laptop more qualifies read newspaper

... can done this?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
