i have installed ubuntu 11.10 (x64 bit) in dell xps l401x.

system configuration:

processor i7 (q740 @ 1.73ghz)

ram 8gb

hdd: 650gb

graphics: gt425m 2gb on board memory.

graphics_drive nvidia version of 280.13

find ubuntu not starting fast other ubuntu in other dell versions.

tune methods make kernel or other method optimize os suit hardware configuration or other method achieve same?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
