Thread: Can't install ubuntu desktop and server (only 11.10)

i need , pissing me off. im trying setup siri proxy 4s when install ubuntu desktop shows cursor on top of screen, happens right after ubuntu purple screen little person @ bottom. same thing happens ubuntu server happens right after select "install ubuntu server". never happen 11.04 in fact, after install 11.04 upgrade 11.10 did same thing after rebooted it. need help. here specs pc

emachines t5048
nvidia 8400gs
2gb ddr ram
pentium 4 524 3.06ghz
2 5400rpm ide hdd

were ever running ubuntu on machine. meaning usable desktop environment.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
