Thread: Error while approaching Ubuntu Software Centre

dear friends,

first post in forum , first time ever using ubuntu. , ubuntu 11.04..

have lenovo laptop , connecting net through proxy server. while trying download sws
ubuntu software centre, getting error message -

"failed download repository information"
check internet connection.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
