i use 32-bit 11.10 unity interface.

here's happened.

had been afk long enough screen lock, , needed shut down , leave in hurry. use complicated password , keyboard input characters have not typed. chose "switch user," put me in lightdm (login screen), , there selected "hibernate." if remember correctly, hung or failed, don't remember how, , forced shutdown holding down power button on case. has done disk. have run nano on ubuntu, yet nothing on mint 11 lxde @ all. i've run fsck in recovery, doesn't fix anything. / filesystem mounts read only, can write /home. x won't launch more; nor irssi, , w3m throws out bunch of ata3.00 errors on exit,

fstab has right uuid swap, /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume

have copy of gparted 5.10 live cd can use edit config files if need to, or edit partitions.

suggestions @ all, either diagnostic or possible solutions, welcome. i'd rather not start over, mean few days of trying not annoy other people on network excessive bandwidth usage.

i've sort of given on restoration, or backing wow (which, tbh, takes longer other downloads combined , can live without). since have complicated partitioning scheme, decided boot partedmagic 5.10. neither gparted 0.8.0 nor gsmart control 0.8.5 nor testdisk 6.12 can recognize disk ubuntu 11.10 & mint 11 installed. so, somehow, action of mine appears have messed partition table.
