Thread: Intel D945GCLF & D525MW Graphics Issues

i wonder if there can me - sorry long & involved. pc & windows savvy, complete linux newbie.

last year built 2 similar htpc (media pcs) using intel d945gclf & intel d525mw motherboard. both intel dual-core atom boards

d945gclf has 1gb ram, 250gb sata hdd & full-size sata dvdrw

d525mw has 2gb ram, 500gb sata hdd & slim slot loading dvdrw

both have ubuntu 10.10 installed , drive samsung lcd tvs , audio surround sound systems.

main purpose playing mp3 (perfect), dvds (also perfect) , iplayer streaming video - problem lies.

if helps, using opera browser , believe iplayer uses flash.

originally, had poor broadband bandwidth (<1.5 mbps) , did not expect decent video streaming web. however, have had lines upgraded , experience >3.5 mbps, iplayer works on our pcs apart these two.

have done great deal of experimentation, including playing around our home networks, changing monitors, etc. , have concluded problem way ubuntu uses graphics on these motherboards - not support full-screen video on tvs without freezing, slow playback, etc.

have temporarily installed winxp on d945gclf , plays iplayer full-screen no problems, confirmed feelings.

not want have go using windows on these pcs - step backwards.

question - has out there come across problem , found solution??

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
