Thread: Live CD Freezing/crashing

to cut long story short i'm trying rescue data windows 7 laptop, unknown bsod's (been trying solve on week)
hardware scans system fine, we're working on assumption corrupted system file.

anyway, burnt copy of 11.10 , loaded live cd. (previously installed machine copy know fine)
set network , opened folders copy , paste.
seems data being copied fine (i'm copying linux machine)
every , laptop, live cd, freezing completely, or shutting down explorer (unity believe now)

indicating there indeed withe hardware in laptop, or case of live cd allocating memory space, , it's crashing amount of data being transfered?

while hardware scans fine, did make , extended memtest, example livecd? if crashes happen unexpected , without obvious pattern, idea @ ram. if ram somehow defect, may happen recognize after time of work.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
