Thread: Splash Screen Forever

hello,

did brand new install of ubuntu 11.10. uninstalled unity , installed lxde. want machine boot tty1 went /etc/grub.d , changed line vt.handoff=7 in 10_linux vt.handoff=1 did sudo update-grub. whatever reason machine sits @ splash screen forever. can ctrl-alt-f1 , tty1 fine.

tried using lubuntu whatever reason kept dropping wifi. i'm using lubuntu on machine in house , it's doing same thing. booted windows , wifi works fine. i'm ubuntu.

thank help.

did start lxde desktop before change tty7 tty1?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
