Thread: WiFi stops working minutes after booting / Ubuntu 11.10 / Realtek RTL8192E

hi all,

installed ubuntu 11.10 through wubi. before had chance explore system came across following problem. extremely grateful guys!

when ubuntu starts, wireless network (only source of internet on laptop...) detected , works beautifully moment. then, after 5 or 7 minutes stops working. connection icon still indicates "connected", "iwconfig wlan0" looks i'm connected (correct essid etc.), no sites can accessed on firefox , "ping www.google.com" fails (for other sites etc.). if disconnect network , try reconnect, @ each reconnection attempt password rejected despite being correct (could sort of timeout?), no networks seen (and few visible win7). logging out , in makes no difference, rebooting makes things work again moment, hardly solution.

wifi works no problem under win7.

did not install drivers, far understand driver card part of distribution. ran command listing loaded modules (lsmod think) , listed 2 driver-looking names, rtl819xe , rtl-sth-else-but-sounding-similar, 2 drivers loaded , fight each other? can fix it? other ideas problems may be?

many apologies details little fudged, have write windows, in linux time ran terminal , few commands internet out! can provide specific details once know for.

linux experience pretty zero, though i've used computers since three...

i'd extremely grateful problem, have learn linux (and i'm pretty keen) , internet infinitely useful in task!
