Arial boldface applied in Word disappears when imported. Help!

two arial fonts available (suitcase 4 in use--not sure thing!), both open type--tt fonts, different versions. presume 1 installed microsoft , 1 indesign.

 

when import microsoft doc template (stylesheets in working order--matching on both ends), message says arial bold mt missing, when go find font, open type version listed open , available--in fact lists 2 arial boldface fonts available---of course, same name. yet arial bold has been stripped out of text.

 

as have 2 of arial open, doc/template requesting both styles.

 

of course, boldface has been applied button in word when used arial roman paragraph style.

 

anyone else have problem???

well, right off bat, that's bad thing. indesign behaves in odd ways when there 2 identically-named fonts installed , active. suspect should answer entire question, sake of complete answers:

some people love it, others hate it. people upgrade suitcase fusion report it's better. 1 generic troubleshooting step advise when people use suitcase report font problems "turn thing off!" think can fix issue removing dupes of arial.

indesign doesn't install arial. don't know dupe came from.

it's asking arialmt, right? same (or similar) font different naming conventions. use find font interface remap arialmt arial on daily basis. seems chronic when using old word templates in cross-platform workflow.

just deactivating 1 might solve issue, but:

it style-and-formatting problem in word. of translators have been using same normal.dot in word more decade, .dot file can accrete garbage on years in usage scenarios. combine "i copy lot of text out of pdf , paste word" workflow, , wind arialmt popping on place.

well, reported above - yes, don't think of problem. comes territory of dealing wide variety of word docs of varying degrees of cruftiness. options slim here - can fix styles in word, or fix stuff in indesign. in particular:

if have styles based on other styles in indesign or word, can throw wrench workflow. there bunch of other problematic cases, depending on gives word files, , how control have on how use word. if above comments don't kill problem off, can tell more word end of workflow?
