Thread: Adjusting guest OS screen resolution in VirtualBox 4.1.8

so, i'm running virtualbox 4.1.8 on ubuntu 11.10 host, , when run guest os (32-bit backtrack 5 r1 kde desktop, in specific case if matters), resolution stuck @ 800x600.
(or variation of it) seemed work others:

vboxmanage setextradata global gui/maxguestresolution any
but when run it, nothing seems happen. suggestions/other solutions?

install guest additions if possible. give guest full control of virtual hardware offered virtualbox including virtual graphics card. guest additions installed guest should resize resolution of monitor whatever interface window size or fullscreen if want.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
