Thread: choosing an operating system

i got compaq armada 500e laptop , planning on giving sister use seems slow. have windows xp home edition , things have installed avg free edition , open office. know computer old think maybe better different operating system. computer has 850mhz, 20gb hard drive , 256mb of memory. has d-link dwl-g630 wireless card. sister tends use msn , facebook lot , listen music , think vast majority of does. hoping input since have played around ubuntu on crappy computers in past have never used or checked minimum requirements until now.

whew. that's real dinosaur. puppy linux, i'd say.
