Thread: Data backup in RAID 0

hello everyone-
i'll cut right chase here. 1 of disks in raid 0 array showing bad sectors , making bad noises. believe both disks still in warranty, i'm hoping manufacturer , replace them(either of laptop or of disks, if msi tells me stuff a-hh-- bum). problem is, cannot clone data onto new disks, because not yet in possession, , understand dd not work unless disk same, require deal of luck. have better solution (just tar every partition , untar them onto new disks, perhaps?). have access big enough external drive, use clonezilla clone raid array onto that, put somewhere safe until new drives arrive?
thoughts!
p.s. drives read ok (for now), although linux has ceased boot (could coincidence? drives ever made noise while booted linux) can boot thumb drive run commands needed, , have made no effort restore ubuntu.

i can not think of else possible do. raid0 ticking time bomb. @ least single disk, can work around bad sectors , of data back. raid 0, once 1 disk gone, pretty hard things back.
