Thread: External Hard Drive + Ubuntu Issues

hi, i've got issue i'm hoping easy fix, has lot of backstory.

use both pc , mac.
i'm borrowing toshiba laptop that's running both ubuntu , windows xp home edition.
have external hard drive can formatted both pc , mac. formatted mac. mac died 2 months ago after coffee spill killed logic board.

ubuntu can access external hard drive, it's read-only. want transfer files , from, unable @ moment. says need install sort of plugin unfamiliar with, when attempted so, said invalid.

now, i'm sure people tell me, "go find mac borrow" or, "reformat hard drive pc."

have access mac, ability use infrequent. i'd able access hard drive when i'm not able use it.

not want format pc, since plan on getting new mac possible (as enjoy pcs, more comfortable macs. filmmaker , find them advantage in job market).

have insight how resolve issue?
know lot of text, recap:

-my external hard drive read only, , i'd able access ubuntu
-i'm not sure plugins needed
-i don't want reformat hard drive pc.



thoughts, anyone?

how copy mac os x partition ubuntu desktop via root access?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
