Thread: fglrxinfo seg fault, ATI driver

i'm trying install ati proprietary drivers in order program (topfusion) running under wine. installed fglrx using directions here:

fglrxinfo seg faults

system->administration->hardwaredrivers says "no proprietary drivers in use on system".

before attempt manual driver installation perhaps can me figure out.

ubuntu 10.04
radeon 9200 se

i went amd/ati's site , did search 9200.

every hit said "updated: years ago".

give me swag on how old machine is. despite fact amd/ati's list of legacy cards not include 9200 (but list 9500 - 9800), may legacy card requires legacy driver -- not work recent versions of x.

let's hope can tell sure if supported card. give sort of idea how proceed.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
